Philatelic Inheritance

Since childhood, I have always been curious to know what these small hand-made cardboard boxes contained. They were kept away from our reach...only to be handed over to me when I came old enough to appreciate what was the precious treasure within. Neatly packaged, though some had aged over the decade, it contained something that cannot be valued, only appreciated..A mammoth collection of stamp albums and First-Day covers..

And then it occurred to me..that with the daily use of emails n mobiles, this hobby (or more supposedly my inherited treasure), is long dead..I cannot try and even pursue it anymore, even if I wanted..Cannot carry the hobby which had brought my father and grand-father close to each other...But i want to contribute in all ways I can..

Then I thought, I can at least try and preserve it..Share it with the world..Some of the finest collection of stamps dating pre-Independence Era , stamps of countries that no longer existed or name changed, First-day covers 50 years old..and many more treasures..Even I have to explore them..The colors and pictures on some of the stamps amaze me on the technology present in that era..

I have began by listing down all the first day covers starting from 1964.. It is a long process.. Have noted down 66 unique FDC from 1964-1968 !! Will upload some fascinating pics vry soon..
I noticed one thing, that during the period '64 till '68 , stamps had the denomination 0.15paise and later on 1 Re and 20paise come on.

Stamps on all prominent freedom fightrers , poets , philosophers and saints are present in my collection.
