The thought of new vacation brought the blue sea and white sand flashing in my mind. My insistence to go to Andaman islands thus began. I started researching on how to reach there , places to visit, hotels , etc. Without google and travel doctors, tourism will not survive.. Thus we began our most memorable 10 day journey to mini heaven !
The half day flight journey took us to Port Blair , and the view from the airplane got oohs and aahs from everyone on board !
Our 1 day stay in PortBlair was not really exciting as the rain played spoilsport leaving us wondering if these are really the islands we imagined. No white sand , no blue sea , no sun ! Just an old British-timer jail and polluted beach. But I didn't get my hopes down as yet. As the next day we were set to sail in the cruise-liner Makruzz to Havelock Islands.. My DreamLand…
Havelock
We had front-row seats on the ship and the view of the seawater bouncing off the deck was marvelous..Luckily, we had managed to get booking in Eco Villa Resort at Havelock island. Mr. Sajan, the owner, had told us about a newly constructed Triplex beach villa, so we were eagerly waiting for that day..And right from the moment we stepped out at the jetty at Havelock to that view from our triplex balcony just blew our minds !! It was right in front of the beach, with an exquisite view of the turquoise blue water..White sand finally touched my hands !!! ..
The hotel is on the beach ! Our cottage had a porch, and 2 balconies with beautiful views of the sunrise and sunset. It was jus amazing waking up to sunrays falling on my face and the first thing that I saw was the bluegreen shaded ocean. The calm and silent , serene beauty is just like a dream..I would always have difficulty in counting how many exact colors of the sea I could see !
Our stay here for two days was so amazing ! Lazing in the hammock staring at the open skies through coconut trees or star gazing at night or sitting at the beach boat for breakfast watching the waves hit the beach , walking along the mangroves on the beach. Everything was pristine.. To add to it the resort played trance music throughout the day. Oh I never wanted to leave that place..The whole cottage was made out of bamboo , wood and coconut tree leaves. It was the most eco-friendly and natural place I have lived in !
The best snorkeling we did was at the Elephanta beach. The diver took us to have a view of the most beautiful corals I have seen. The colors of the fishes seen fail to leave my memories.. I swam down to touch the live corals stems and play along.. At a depth of 15 feet also one can see the corals clearly in the sunlight. I should add that this beautiful habitat may not survive many years due to constant damage caused by us tourists. The oil trails from boats are killing these beauties ! And I did see many dead coral regions too. It was really sad..
So much for part 1 of the trip :) More exciting stuff to come soon...!
