Teapot hill hike

Well, this interesting hike has been on my mind since a while. The name itself is so inviting, however, it doesn’t mean you are going to meet people having tea. I must add, we literally enjoyed a cup of hot tea at the top after a grilling hike. ๐Ÿต

This is a hike where interesting teacups and saucers are strategically placed by visitors in the woods for others to find them ! It's such a fun thing to do with kids or just by yourself. By no means, are these that easy to spot at times and a good eyesight is indeed appreciated. The canopy of trees in dense and the added boards of "Bear sightings" added a certain daring treasure hunt feeling into us.

The park management ensures to keep the most interesting ones in place and discard the over excessive home decor left behind. I can assure that we did not see more than 20 through the entire 5+ km hike, so the charm is not lost in the forest. You need to try and keep a count of how many you noticed given how well they are hidden in plain sight.

About the hike then, ahem.. Yes, I'm not the most fit, but as I have been trying to do more physical activities, this hike was the good dose of challenge for me. The hike is all uphill until the end, and in fact, quite steep for quite a kilometre atleast. There is a steep ravine slope on one side and road is well paved. Just need to watch your step and pray no bears are seen.. Here is the link to the trail: https://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/teapot-hill/ . The website says "Easy", I'd say "Medium".

The hike itself is not scenic except the top point, which has a narrow long shot view of the Cultus lake below. The fun stays in the teapot sighting, sometimes tea cups are on a stump, sometimes hanging on a branch, at times in the bushes. The other bonus, given that the end of the trail is quite an uphill journey, when you get back to the base, make sure to relax and relieve the tiredness right at the lake before you head back to the city !

Cultus Lake: Green blue waters , huge lake for swimming, paddleboarding, speed boats, casual shore side BBQ and what not !

The other interesting part, we say 3 sign boards saying bear in the area, getting us nervous. We did the hike in mid-June, when bears are active, and we did not bring any bear spray, nor bells, and weirdly not many people on the trail as well. Well, can’t blame it on no people, as it was a damn good sunny day to be at the Cultus lake which is right at the start of the hike. Or rather, the hike itself is in the Cultus Lake region.

Its an hour long drive from the city, trail head starts a bit further ahead then the main lake parking, ample parking right at trail head, good pit toilet facility at the start of the hike, probably best to use some insect repellent, saw many mosquitoes at the top, and rest is to enjoy nature and taking good pictures while you exercise !

Drink the happiness straight from the forest ๐Ÿ˜›
